The Design Build Process

The process

It all begins with an idea. Planning a home renovation is an exciting time for homeowners. There are ideas, phases, difficult decisions to make, and excitement when a new thing is completed on the project. It’s hard to not get ahead of yourself.

Upon visiting with a potential client, two of the biggest questions we are presented with are when the project can start and when the project will be over. Both important and valid questions. However, it’s not always clear and easy to answer. Projects have many steps and factors that play in how long a project takes to plan and complete. At Frontline Construction Services we strive to help our clients along the process and make it as smooth as possible with our professional craftsmanship and excellent customer service.

Below, we break down the process and what you can expect.

  1. Consultation

When we meet, we will discuss desires, goals, and ideas with a professional insight on feasibility of the project based on the homeowner’s budget. This begins the relationship building process as we will work through this project as a team and share the journey together. After the consultation, your project manager will take what was discussed and fit it to a design and scope of work.

2. Design and Scope of Work

After determining that the ideas, wants, and needs are fulfilled within the projected budget range, we will move on to the design and scope of work. Here, we will come up with products that need to be ordered, trades that need to be involved, and any other things that need to be discussed about the scope of work. This is where a contract will be written up which requires an investment from the client based on the scope of work and budget discussed. After a contract is formed, we will move on to the work agreement and scheduling of the work.

3. Scheduling

At this point, the client has committed to the project and we are ready to get the project schedule figured out. This is where we order materials needed, come up with a projected start date, schedule the different trades associated with the project, and prep the project space for work.

4. Construction

The time is finally here to begin the project! All of the time and effort of planning, designing, and scheduling pays off and we are ready to start. We will perform the work as outlined in our contract agreement and throughout the project we will keep you updated on progress, when products arrive, and any changes that need to be made. If there are any changes that need to be made outside of our original scope of work, a change order will be filed and an agreed upon price is set to cover the cost of the change.

5. Completion

When the construction process is complete, we will perform a walk-through with the client to make sure there is nothing that needs to be addressed. By using quality products and services, we finish your project with confidence that you will be satisfied and your project will have long lasting-value.

YOUR BRAND

YOUR BRAND

You may notice that the majority of the steps outlined in the process above do not involve the construction of the project. Rest assured that the time in between the initial consultation and the beginning of construction is time well spent and well worth the wait. This is where the majority of the work is done and planned to make sure your project is taken care of properly, professionally, and efficiently.

With this in mind, be aware that from initial consultation to beginning of construction can sometimes take up to 2 months and from construction to completion can sometimes take up to 4-6 months. So, if you need to host Christmas this year and you are looking to redo your kitchen, the time to reach out would be the beginning of the year to make sure your project is wrapped up before the holidays. Hope this clears up the design build process! We look forward to helping you on this shared journey.
